About the Dance Staff

Jenny Ostrowski
Jenny has been dancing for 16 years. She graduated from Rolling Meadows High School in June 2004, where she was a member of the Pom's Squad and President of the Orchesis dance troupe. While a member of Orchesis, Jenny choreographed a number of their dances, one of which was performed at the District Festival. Jenny has danced with the Des Plaines Park District since the age of 3, taking classes in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop, was an original member of the Elevation Dance Theatre, and has participated in many dance workshops. Additional training includes the Dance Academy of Libertyville, Gus Giordano Dance Center and Gallina's Dance Studio.

Anne Gollenberg
Originally from New York, Anne received her B.A. in Dance from Point Park University. While there, she had the privilege of working with a number of acclaimed choreographers, including Robert Battle, Randy Duncan, and Sam Watson. She continued her training at the Giordano Dance Center within the Scholarship program, and the Invited Artist Program at River North Chicago Dance Company. She has taught at several studios in the Chicagoland area and is currently on staff at Stephanie's Academy of Dance. Anne is a founding member of Inaside Chicago Dance and is currently Associate Director and Business Manager as well as a company dancer. She has also been a guest performer at several venues including Dance Chicago, Solestance, and Melissa Thodos New Dances. Recently, Mary traveled to Madrid for the 31st annual Choreographers Showcase.

Cecilia Ferguson-Bell
Cecilia Ferguson-Bell
Cecilia began her study of dance 17 years ago in the areas of ballet, jazz, and tap. Throughout the years, she has extended her training to include modern, hip-hop, lyrical, pointe, and musical theatre. Her passion for dance brought her to Western Kentucky University where she received her BFA in Performing Arts with a dance concentration. While at WKU, Ms. Ferguson-Bell was awarded the Doris Owen Dance Scholarship as well as the opportunity to perform as a featured soloist abroad. Aerial dancing seventy-five feet in the air at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is one of Cecilia's most memorable performances. Through Balance Point Dance Solutions, Cecilia has had the pleasure of working with dancers nationwide providing innovative choreography. Currently, Cecilia calls Chicago home where she performs with Inaside Chicago Dance and teaches ballet, jazz, pointe, hip-hop and tap at various studios throughout the city.

Debbie Rochau
Debbie is a Des Plaines resident, and has been teaching at the Des Plaines Park District for the past 9 years. Debbie began her dance training with lessons at Golden's School of Dance in Schaumburg. Her training continued at Yeomen's School of Dance in Hanover Park and the Northwest Ballet Academy in Schaumburg, where she studied Ballet for six years under the direction of Michele Holzman and Camille Baranchik. Debbie has also taken master classes in Modern, Jazz and Ballet at Denise Sabala's School of Dance and participated in the Baby Dream Workshop with choreographers Lois Baumann and Heidi Renteria.
Karlo Familara
Mr. Familara is currently the Artistic Director of Hip Hop ConnXion, Hip Hop Force and Future Force dance teams. He also teaches at Dance ConnXion Studio, Fox Valley Park District and Inspire School of Dance. Karlo was a former Culture Shock Chicago dancer and Head JV and Small Varsity Coach for Maine East High School's Cheerleading team. He represented Hip Hop ConnXion on the ABC Family network TV show Dance Fever and appeared in music videos with the Baja Men. He was one of seven dancers chosen to represent Chicago and the USA in the World Hip Hop Championships in L.A. in August 2004, and helped to bring home a silver medal in the USA finals, and fifth place in the World Finals. His innovative style has made him one of the most popular hip hop teachers in the business.
Karlo Familara
Caryn Do
Caryn has been dancing since she was four years old. She graduated from Illinois State University in 1999 with a degree in Theater and Dance Performance. While there, she was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award in Dance by the College of Fine Arts. Caryn has worked with several renowned choreographers such as Randy Duncan, Bob Boross, Jeannie Hill, Kim Neal-Nofsinger, and Laurie Merriman. Since graduating from college, Caryn has been teaching many levels of Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Modern at both the Mt. Prospect Park District and the Des Plaines Park District. Starting with the 2007-2008 season, Caryn is also an Artistic Director of Artistry in Motion Dance Company.

Mary Baumgardner
Mary was born and raised in Harrisville, MI. She attended Western Michigan University and earned her B.A. magna cum laude in Dance and English. While at WMU, Ms. Baumgardner had the honor of performing in pieces choreographed by Paul Taylor, Gus Giordano, and Derrick Evans as well as traveling to the Kennedy Center. Upon graduation, Mary moved to Chicago to continue her training on scholarship at the Giordano Dance Center. Some of Ms. Baumgardner's most recent professional performance credits include: Dance Chicago, Subtext Dance Project, Melissa Thodos New Dances, International Choreographers' Showcase in Madrid, Spain. In addition to teaching at several studios in Chicago, Mary is a company member and Marketing Director of Inaside Chicago Dance.

Laura Chiuve
Des Plaines School of Dance Program Coordinator.
Laura is originally from the Boston area. After attending Point Park College as a jazz dance major, she was awarded a Merit Scholarship to continue her training at Giordano Dance Center in Evanston. She is a founding member of the critically acclaimed Chicago Tap Theatre, which in addition to self-producing three shows a year, has performed in numerous Chicago-based festivals, as well as toured within the United States and the south of France. Besides tapping, Laura has also worked with choreographers Paul Christiano, Jon Lehrer (Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago) and Jay Franke (Hubbard Street). She was selected to perform in Thodos Dance Chicago's New Dances in 2004 and 2005. Laura is sought after as a Master Teacher for workshops in Chicago and throughout the United States. Laura is a founding Artistic Director of our Artistry in Motion Dance Company.
